Islam is against unprovoked aggression, war, murder, invasion etc.

Most Non Muslims and even some Muslims today believe that Islam is a violent religion, commanding Muslims to fight, slay, and kill all Non Muslims, this view has mainly come about because of the negative stereotyping, a propaganda war against Islam, and the actions of a few deranged "Muslims". However, when we look at the religion itself, it becomes clear that Islam is not a violent religion commanding unprovoked violence, but actually commands the opposite, quite explicitly. How ever i will state now that Islam is not a pacifist religion, people who attack you or your country, in according with Islam, are to be put down with force, and force is allowed to free oppressed and persecuted people. However, it is not permitted to commit unprovoked violence. God hates this.
The following verses from the Qur'an will explain this.

2:190 - And fight in the cause of God against those who fight you, but do not aggress, God does not love the aggressors.

2:193 - And fight them so there is no more persecution, and so that the system is for God. If they cease, then there will be no aggression except against the aggressors.

2:194 - The restricted month may be met with in the restricted month, and what is unlawful may be met with retaliation. Whoever attacks you, then you shall attack him the same as he attacked you; and be aware of God, and know that God is with the righteous.

4:91 - You will find others who wish to make peace with you, and also with their people. However, as soon as war erupts, they fight against you. Unless these people leave you alone, offer you peace, and stop fighting you, you may fight them when you encounter them. Against these, we give you a clear authorization.

5:87 - O you who believe, do not make unlawful the good things that God has made lawful to you, and do not aggress; God does not love the aggressors.

7:33 - Say, "My Lord prohibits only evil deeds, be they obvious or hidden, and sins, and unjustifiable aggression, and to set up beside God powerless idols, and to say about God what you do not know."

8:61 - And if they seek peace, then you also seek it, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable.

9:13 - Would you not fight people who violated their treaties, tried to banish the messenger, and they are the ones who started the war in the first place? Are you afraid of them? God is the One you are supposed to fear, if you are believers.

42:42 - The wrong ones are those who treat the people unjustly, and resort to aggression without provocation. These have incurred a painful retribution.

49:9 - If two groups of believers fought with each other, you shall reconcile them. If one group aggresses against the other, you shall fight the aggressing group until they submit to God's command. Once they submit, you shall reconcile the two groups equitably. You shall maintain justice; God loves those who are just.

60:8-9 - God does not prohibit you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. God loves the equitable. God prohibits you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors.

Refuting Geert Wilder's "Fitna"

Fitna is a 2008 cinematic commentary by Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilder's about Islam. Approximately 17 minutes in length, the movie shows selected excerpts from Suras of the Qur'an, interspersed with media clips and newspaper cuttings showing or describing acts of violence and/or hatred by Muslims. The film attempts to demonstrate that the Qur'an motivates its followers to hate all who violate Islamic teachings.

This page will refute Geert's claims using all the verses he uses in his film.

Geert Wilders first claim is that Verse 8:60 commands Muslims to attack non believers.
This is the verse used in his film.
>Prepare for them whatever force and cavalry ye are able of gathering, to strike terror, to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies. [1]
Lets have a look at the actual verse in several different translations [2]
>Hence, make ready against them whatever force and war mounts you are able to muster, so that you might deter thereby the enemies of God, who are your enemies as well, and others besides them of whom you may be unaware, [but] of whom God is aware; and whatever you may expend in God's cause shall be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.
>And prepare against them what force you can and horses tied at the frontier, to frighten thereby the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them, whom you do not know (but) Allah knows them; and whatever thing you will spend in Allah's way, it will be paid back to you fully and you shall not be dealt with unjustly.
>And prepare for them whatever you were able of strength, including a string of horses, to put fear in the enemy of God and your enemy and others besides whom you know them not. God knows them. And whatever thing you spend in the way of God, the account will be paid in full to you and you will not be wronged.
It is clear from the real verse that this is a command to Muslims to be prepared in case of enemy attacks, and to keep a large Army to deter any would be attackers.
Further proof which discredits Geert's claim is the verse following directly after 8:60
In three different Translations of 8:61 [3]
>But if they incline to peace, incline thou to it as well, and place thy trust in God: verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing!
>If they resort to peace, so shall you, and put your trust in God. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient.
>If they incline to peace, you too incline to it, and put your trust in Allah. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
This is extremely clear. If any would be attackers or enemies want peace, then so shall you. This entirely refutes Geert's claim because if 8:60 was about unconditionally attacking disbelievers, why would we be told straight after to make peace if they want peace?

The next Verse Geert uses to attack Islam is verse 4:56. [1]
Geert claims this verse is justification for Muslims to be Antisemitic and attack Jews.
Lets look at the verse in three translations. [4]
>Those who reject our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.
>We shall send those who reject Our revelations to the Fire. When their skins are burnt up, We shall replace them with new ones so that they may continue to taste the punishment. God is mighty and wise.
>We shall send those who reject Our revelations to the Fire. When their skins have been burned away, We shall replace them with new ones so that they may continue to feel the pain: God is mighty and wise.
As you can see, this verse has nothing to do with Anti-Semitism, it doesn't even mention Jews or Israelis. Geerts claim has absolutely no basis. Furthermore, the first Muslims were Arabs, Arabs are Semites!
On a side note, some claim this verse is a command to Muslims towards non Muslims. This is not true, this verse is clearly speaking of non-believers punishment in Hell, not an earthly command. This is backed up by the following verse. [5]
>And as for those who believe and do good works, We shall make them enter Gardens underneath which rivers flow - to dwell therein for ever; there for them are pure companions - and We shall make them enter plenteous shade.
This is speaking of those who are good, telling us they will go to heaven. This makes it clear that the previous verse was referring to Hell.

The next verse Geert uses is 47:4, he claims that again this verse tells Muslims to kill and attack Non-Muslims.
Again lets look at several different translations of the verse [6]
>Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. That (is the ordinance). And if Allah willed He could have punished them (without you) but (thus it is ordained) that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain.
>So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates. That (shall be so); and if Allah had pleased He would certainly have exacted what is due from them, but that He may try some of you by means of others; and (as for) those who are slain in the way of Allah, He will by no means allow their deeds to perish.
>When you meet the faithless in battle, strike their necks. When you have thoroughly decimated them, bind the captives firmly. Thereafter either oblige them [by setting them free] or take ransom till the war lays down its burdens. That [is Allah’s ordinance], and had Allah wished He could have taken vengeance on them, but that He may test some of you by means of others. As for those who were slain in the way of Allah, He will not let their works go awry.
It is clear from the verse itself that this is not an order to go out and kill but the permission to kill those who you are in battle with. It does not say go to battle, it talks about within a battle, and who will say except the pacifists that it is something abhorrently evil to kill those you are in battle with?

Geert then attacks verse 4:89. His video claims this verse permits killing those who leave the religion of Islam[1]. Let us look at the verse in three translations. [7]
>They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks
>They wish that you disbelieve as they have disbelieved, then you become equal. Do not consider them friends, unless they mobilize along with you in the cause of God. If they turn against you, you shall fight them, and you may kill them when you encounter them in war. You shall not accept them as friends, or allies.
>They would love for you disbelieve just as they disbelieve, so you will be exactly like them. Do not adopt sponsors from among them until they migrate along God´s way. If they should ever turn against you, then seize them and kill them wherever you may find them. Do not adopt any sponsor nor supporter from among them,
I think it's fairly obvious to anyone with basic reading comprehension that this verse is not commanding Muslims to kill people who leave the religion, but only commanding Muslims to fight the people who leave Islam and then turn on it and fight Islam. Its clear the verse is talking about a situation of war. Kill those who leave Islam AND then physically fight you, not simply, kill those who leave Islam, as Geert claims.

The next verse and final verse that Geert uses is 8:39. This is the verse as claimed by him.
>Fight them until there is no dissension, and the religion is entirely Allah's.[1]
Geert claims this verse commands Muslims to fight all non Muslims until the only religion is Islam. Geert actually misses off the end of the verse which is crucial in understanding this verse. Below i will show you 3 different translations of the full verse of 8:39. [8]
>Fight them off until there is no more persecution, and Religion belongs wholly to God: yet if they do stop, then God is Observant of anything they do.
>And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah. But if they cease, then lo! Allah is Seer of what they do.
>And fight them all until there is no more oppression, and so that the entire system is God's. But if they cease, then God is watcher over what they do.
Firstly, the verse is talking about fighting in a situation where one is being oppressed or persecution, which automatically sets the situation up to mean self defense and not offensive, as Geert claims. Secondly, when including the entire verse as Geert does not, it becomes obvious the verse is talking about people who are attacking you, and if they stop, then do not fight them, something Geert conveniently missed out.
And yes, the verse is talking about religion being only Islam, but considering the pretext is being attacked and persecuted for your faith, the only logical reasoning is that the verse is talking about people trying to force Muslims to give up their faith, not force the world to become Islam. How could the verse possibly be talking about forcing everyone to be Muslim given the pretext of being attacked for being Muslim.

These are all the verses Geert uses to attack Islam, his claims are easily refuted simply by reading the full verse clearly or the context around it. The majority of the time the verse does not even say what he claims, and you only have to read it to say that. Other times he misses out parts of the verse, or completely takes it out of context.
Its clear that Geert is lying and knows that he is lying. This film Fitna is nothing more than Anti-Islamic hate propaganda.

Irrefutable proof that all Muslims should reject the Hadith and Sunnah and follow nothing but the Qur'an.

There are numerous reasons why a Muslim should disregard the Hadith and Sunnah. Many of these reasons are Gods direct word straight from the Qur'an. As a back drop, the Hadith and Sunnah are the supposed traditions and words of the Prophet Muhammad. They were passed down orally from generation to generation, when eventually they were collected into written form. These were collected 200 years after the Prophet died. The majority of Muslims today believe these to be essential to the Islamic faith, and that you cannot understand the Qur'an, without the extra information from the Hadith and Sunnah. They believe the Qur'an is only an overview which doesn't go into full detail. Below i will explain why this is false using Gods very word. If a Muslim disagrees, they are disagreeing with God.

Nothing has been left from the Qur’an, it explains everything and no other source is needed to explain it or understand it, or to give extra guidance.

6:114 - "Shall I seek other than God as a judge when He has sent down to you this Scripture fully detailed" Those to whom We have given the Scripture know it is sent down from your Lord with truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.

16:89 - And on the day when We will raise up in every people a witness against them from among themselves, and bring you as a witness against these-- and We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything, and a guidance and mercy and good news for those who submit.

12:111 - There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. Never was the Qur'an a narration invented, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.

41:3 - A Book, in which the verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic, for (those) people who understand;

10:37 - And this Qur’an is not such as could be forged by those besides Allah, but it is a verification of that which is before it and a clear explanation of the Book, there is no doubt in it, from the Lord of the worlds.

39:23 - God has revealed herein the best Hadith; a book that is consistent, and points out both ways (to Heaven and Hell). The skins of those who reverence their Lord cringe therefrom, then their skins and their hearts soften up for God’s message. Such is God’s guidance; He bestows it upon whomever He wills. As for those sent astray by God nothing can guide them.

7:52 - We have given them a scripture that is fully detailed, with knowledge, guidance, and mercy for the people who believe.

The Qur’an was made easy, we don’t need scholars or Hadith to explain it to us.

54:17 - And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?

2:159 - Surely those who conceal the clear proofs and the guidance that We revealed after We made it clear in the Book for men, these it is whom Allah shall curse, and those who curse shall curse them too.

75:16-19 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste. It is for Us to gather and relate it. So when We relate it, you shall follow its revelation. Then it is for Us to explain it.

God condemns the Hadith by name, and tells us the only book needed is the Qur’an.
*Note, the actual Arabic word used here is Hadith.

45:6 - These are Gods revelations that we recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than God and His revelations do they believe?

7:185 - Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all the things God has created? Does it ever occur to them that the end of their life may be near? Which Hadith, beside this, do they believe in?

31:6 - Among the people, there are those who uphold baseless Hadith, and thus divert others from the path of God without knowledge, and take it in vain. These have incurred a shameful retribution.

77:50 - Which Hadith, other than this, do they uphold?

17:46 - We place shields around their minds, to prevent them from understanding it, and deafness in their ears. And when you preach your Lord, using the Qur'an alone, they run away in aversion.

Muhammad was forbidden from creating laws and guidance.  He was forbidden from explaining the Qur’an. The Hadith and Sunnah are the supposed laws and guidance of Muhammad, which is forbidden by the Qur’an.

69:44-48 -  Had he uttered any other teachings. We would indeed have seized him by his right hand. And would have cut off his main vein.  None of you could have helped him. This is a reminder for the righteous.

10:15 - And when Our clear revelations were recited to them, those who do not wish to meet Us said: "Bring a Qur'an other than this, or change it!" Say: "It is not for me to change it of my own accord, I merely follow what is inspired to me. I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, the retribution of a great Day!"

72:21 - "Say O Muhammad, 'I possess no power to harm you, or benefit you through guiding you.''

55:1-2 - The Almighty. He has taught the Quran.

66:1 - O you prophet, why do you prohibit what God has made lawful for you, just to please your wives? God is Forgiver, Merciful.

Following religious laws not ordered by God is to transgress God's word, only God is allowed to decree Islamic law. Muhammad and religious scholars are forbidden from giving Law, they are forbidden from prohibiting or allowing anything themselves.

16:105 - The only ones who fabricate false doctrines are those who do not believe in God's revelations; they are the real liars.

3:94 - Those who fabricate false prohibitions after this, and attribute them to God, are truly wicked.

5:87 - O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by God, and do not aggress; God dislikes the aggressors.

6:119 - Why should you not eat from that upon which God's name has been mentioned? He has detailed for you what is prohibited for you, unless you are forced. Indeed, many people mislead others with their personal opinions, without knowledge. Your Lord is fully aware of the transgressors.

6:140 - Losers indeed are those who killed their children foolishly, due to their lack of knowledge, and prohibited what God has provided for them, and followed innovations attributed to God. They have gone astray; they are not guided.

7:32 - Say, "Who prohibited the nice things God has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?" Say, "Such provisions are to be enjoyed in this life by those who believe. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection." We thus explain the revelations for people who know.

5:103 - God did not prohibit livestock that begets certain combinations of males and females, nor livestock liberated by an oath, nor the one that begets two males in a row, nor the bull that fathers ten. It is the disbelievers who invented such lies about God. Most of them do not understand.

6:144 - Regarding the two kinds of camels, and the two kinds of cattle, say, "Is it the two males that He prohibited, or the two females, or the contents of the wombs of the two females? Were you witnesses when God decreed such prohibitions for you? Who is more evil than those who invent such lies and attribute them to God? They thus mislead the people without knowledge. God does not guide such evil people."

16:116 - You shall not utter lies with your own tongues stating: "This is lawful, and this is unlawful," to fabricate lies and attribute them to God. Surely, those who fabricate lies and attribute them to God will never succeed.

The Qur'an makes a prophecy that people will fabricate lies about the Prophet in order to deceive people. The Hadith and Sunnah fulfill this prophecy.

6:112 - We have permitted the enemies of every prophet—human and jinn devils—to inspire in each other fancy words, in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done it. You shall disregard them and their fabrications.
